Located on Jumeirah Bay Island, LV43 is conceived as an inhabited stone sculpture. The house is formed as a series of cellular spaces carved from an apparently monolithic volume, each shaped to admit a particular quality of light and colour. References to the work of Joan Miró introduce moments of playfulness and surprise within the otherwise weighty architecture. Conceived as both a private retreat and a setting for the owner’s collection, the residence incorporates an extensive, gallery-like show garage into the spatial sequence of the house.Â
