Casa 5

Casa 5 is set at the foot of Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley, occupying a natural amphitheatre that opens towards the surrounding mountain ranges. The house is organised around a primary view axis that frames the iconic Praying Monk rock formation, anchoring the architecture within its landscape. Arrival is from above, allowing the house to unfold gradually as a series of descending planes embedded within the slope. These expressed horizontal floor plates reinforce this movement through the site, articulating the relationship between the building and the terrain.

Deep overhangs and shaded outdoor spaces temper the intensity of the Arizona sun, creating a sequence of sheltered living areas that remain closely connected to their surroundings.
