Avas Wellness

Avas Wellness is an estate and spa located in the coastal town of Alibaug, Mumbai.  The site is semi-rural, surrounded by nature, and envisioned as a tranquil haven for the Avas community.  Drawing great inspiration from traditional Indian culture and values, this oasis allows one to connect with a community, but also disconnect from reality.

Biophilic design became a core principle of the project, driving a harmonious integration with the natural environment through the contemporary integration of local materials and nature into a series of soft and curved structures. Through a mysterious entrance of large planer walls in blush stone, the functions open up and are dispersed among the landscape beyond, connected via open circulation. This subtly blurs the lines between interior and exterior, encouraging ever-present dialogue with nature.
