SAOTA’s East African projects span diverse landscapes, from Kenya’s highlands to Zanzibar’s tropical coast. Our portfolio includes the award-winning Meru residence and commercial developments, balancing openness with shelter, natural materials, and passive cooling strategies to create refined, contemporary spaces deeply connected to their surroundings.
Ngecha
The building is set on a sloping site, at the edge of the city and tucked away in a forest with views over the valley. Soft thresholds allow for a seamless flow and integration between interior and exterior spaces. The use of skylights throughout the house pulls the forested landscape inwards.
