SAOTA’s Upper Albert Project Receives CIfA Commendation for Architecture Award 2023

In the world of architecture, it’s not just about designing buildings; it’s about crafting spaces that tell a story, spaces that blend innovation with personal expression. This dance of architectural artistry and practicality is exemplified in the award-winning Upper Albert Project by SAOTA.
Architect Philip Olmesdahl, principal at SAOTA, embarked on a personal journey that ultimately led to the creation of the Upper Albert Project. Having lived near the site for over 15 years, Philip had long admired it. When the timing was right and the need for a more spacious family home became apparent, he saw the opportunity to turn his vision into reality.
The objective was clear: to craft a single house that could bask in the activity and energy of the city while preserving the spirit of a standalone house in a garden suburb.
The result is an architectural masterpiece that beautifully balances urban living and natural surroundings.
