The brief was to design a tropical, resort-style family home in Sharjah, a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city life and an escape from the extreme climate.
The primary architectural statement is a translucent glass screen which wraps around the first floor providing privacy to the bedrooms. The translucency of the façade means that the character of the villa changes throughout the day, providing different experiences as it is lit first from behind, then from the front and finally from the interior. Dark off-shutter concrete walls, used exclusively on the ground floor, are intended to complement and contrast the lightweight glass screen above.
